Abstract:

Climate disasters dataset based on household questionnaires in grassland pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia was developed from the questionnaire surveys by random and face to face interviews between 15-21 June 2013 and 17-28 September 2013. In June 2013, 53 household surveys in Bayannur, Baotou and Ulanqab were conducted. In September 2013, 56 household surveys in Xilin Gol League and 60 household surveys in Hulun Buir, with a total sample of 169 households were completed. In these samples, 164 households were suffered with droughts and snow disasters. Totally 339 person (time) were interviewed. The questionnaire consists of three parts: the basic information of the interviewee and their households (including householder gender, age, occupation, education level and part-time job conditions, etc.), the experience on climate disasters (investigating the condition of climate disasters that have severe impact on household economy) and regional countermeasures (including the countermeasures of herdsmen and disaster reduction measures of the government). The data set is consisted of the following data files: (1) Spatial distribution of droughts in typical grassland pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia, (2) Spatial distribution of snow disasters in typical grassland pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia, (3) Spatial divisions of research area, (4) Temporal distribution of climatic disasters (including droughts and snow disasters) in typical grassland pastoral areas of Inner Mongolia, (5) The main countermeasures and types of herdsmen dealing with climate disasters (including droughts and snow disasters). This data set is archived in .shp and .xlsx formats and in 22 data files with data size of 644 KB (compressed to one file with the data size of 238 KB). The analysis paper based on this dataset had been published in Resources Science, Vol. 38, No. 5, 2016.
