Abstract:
From 2012 to 2014, 2555 traditional villages were released in China by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of P. R. China, Ministry of Culture of P .R. China, Ministry of Finance of P. R. China. The dataset was developed based on the names of the villages or geolocation of villages from Baidu map and Google earth images. Furthermore, more historical documentations helped to determine the village location. In a few cases, If the village was not found on the map, and it was not founded in Google Earth image neither, the upper level administrative resident village nearby was adopted. The dataset was archived in .shp and .kmz formats with data size of 6.88 MB in 8 files (Compressed to 416 KB in two files). The analysis paper was published at the journal of Progress in Geography, Vol 35, No.11, 2016.
