Abstract:

The South Andaman Island is located in southern of the Andaman Islands, the Bay of Bengal. It is separated from West Baratang Group and Baratang Island at its north, from Rutland Island at its south, from Napier Bay Islands and Port Blair Islands at its east, from Defence Islands at its west. The capital of the islands, is located on the southern part of this island. The South Andaman Island belongs to the South Andaman administrative district, part of the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Its geo-location is 11°28′39″N-12°14′22″N, 92°30′48″E-92°47′17″E. Its area is 1246.49 km², the coastline is 486.97 km. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files and archived in the .kmz and shp data formats with the data size of 1.20 MB (Compressed to 483 KB in two files).
