Abstract:

The river morphology and sediment dataset of cascade reservoirs in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River was developed based on the original observation data of channel thalweg elevations in Xiangjiaba and Xiluodu reservoirs in the lower reaches of the Jinsha River collected from a series of literatures, integrated with the moving average method and the arithmetic mean method of along-channel segmented resampling. The dataset includes: (1) general data of the Xiangjiaba and Xiluodu reservoirs (Table 1); (2) 5-point moving average data of channel thalweg elevations before and after dam construction in the Xiangjiaba and Xiluodu reservoirs (Table 2 and Table 3); (3) average channel thalweg sedimentation rates for each 30 km segment in different periods before and after dam construction in the Xiangjiaba and Xiluodu reservoirs (Table 4 and Table 5). These data can be used to analyze the erosion and deposition amplitude and spatial variation trends of the channel thalweg lines of the above cascade reservoirs in different periods, helping to reveal the adjustment mechanism of their thalweg longitudinal profiles. The dataset is archived in .xlsx data format, and consists of one data file with data size of 30 KB. The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at Acta Geographica Sinica, Vol, 80, No. 5, 2025.
