Abstract:
Fangxian County lies between Daba Mountains and Wudang Mountains in Hubei Province. It is a hilly, semi-mountainous area. Fangxian black fungus, a specialty of Fangxian County, is renowned for its unique quality and nutritional value, which was identified as the geographical indication (GI) product by both China and Europe Union (EU). The cultivated varieties of Fangxian black fungus are log and bag materials of black fungus. The quality of the water used for spraying is better than the limits specified in the National Agricultural Irrigation Water Quality Standard (GB5084—2021). Black fungus (FF) has particularly outstanding nutritional indicators. The total sugar content (calculated as invert sugar) for log-made fungus ranges from 45.50% to 56.50% (average 52.1%), while that for bag-made fungus ranges from 48.7% to 62.6% (average 55.4%). The crude protein content for log-made fungus averages 9.8% (maximum 10.9%), while that for bag-made fungus averages 9.6% (maximum 9.8%), representing relatively high levels among edible fungi. The dataset includes: (1) case study area; (2) physical geographic data; (3) black fungus variety characteristics; and (4) management and cultural traditions. The dataset is archived in .shp, .xlsx, .docx, .jpg, .txt and .tif data formats, and consists of 84 data files with data size of 90.4 MB (Compressed into one file with 36.6 MB).
