Abstract:

The organs of plants have different functions and the allocation ratio of organ biomass is closely related to the ability to obtain resources for the plants. Plants organs present allometric phenomena during growth and development. In May 2007, sixteen plots were selected and Chenopodium acuminatum were planted in four different densities (16, 44.4, 100, and 400 plants/m²) in the Naiman Desertification Research Station, Chinese Academy of Sciences. On June 22, July 15, August 9, August 27 and September 12, samples of C. acuminatum were collected to measure the plant high, root length, primary branch length, secondary branch length, main stem weight, leaf weight, root weight, reproductive organ weight, primary branch weight, secondary branch weight, aboveground biomass and stem biomass. Then, the In situ experimental data of population density effecting biomass allocation and allometric growth of C. acuminatum was obtained. The results showed that, with the increasing of density, there were different levels of competition for both aboveground and belowground organs, the distribution of root and main stem increased, and the distribution of stem and aboveground organs decreased, but the distribution of leaves and reproductive organs did not change with the density. The dataset is consisted of: (1) geo-location data of the sample site; (2) the in situ experimental data of population density effecting biomass allocation and allometric growth of C. acuminatum. The dataset is archived in .kmz, .shp and .xlsx data formats in 8 data files with data size of 67.2 KB (compressed to two files with data size of 61.9 KB). The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at Acta Ecologica Sinica, Vol. 37, No. 15, 2017.
