Abstract:
Yapen Island is in the Irian Bay, northwest of the Irian Island (also called New Guinea Island) in the Oceania. It is located in the western part of the Pacific Ocean and near the equator. The Yapen Island is 50 km separated from Biak Island in its north, and 32 km separated from the Irian Island in its south, and 7 km from the Pulau Kurudu Island in its southeast. The Yapen Island is in Papua province, Indonesia. Its geo-location is between 1°35'54"S and 1°54'48"S, 135°24'37"E and 136°54'12"E. The total area of the Yapen Island is 2284.49 km² based on the Albers projection, and the coastline is 594.91 km based on the Lambert projection. The outline of the island is like a long strip, 167.48 km long from east to west and 25.72 km wide from south to north. The dataset is developed based on the Global Multiple Scale Shorelines Dataset Based on Google Earth images (2015), combined with relevant maps of Indonesia. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and is composed of 14 data files with a data size of 2.26 MB (compressed into 2 data files with 938 KB).
