Abstract:
Alag Lake is located at the southern foot of the Burhan Budai Mountains - the eastern end of the Eastern Kunlun Range. It is the largest freshwater body in the Haixi Tibetan and Mongolian Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. Also it is an important inland huff and puff lake in the upper reaches of the Qaidam River. The geo-location of the Alag Lake is between 35°36′42″N and 35°32′45″N, 97°3′53″E and 97°10′7″E. It locates in the semi-arid climate region of the alpine grassland with annual precipitation of 100 mm, annual average temperature of 0 - 0.2 ℃ and the average altitude of 4100m. The area of the Alag Lake is 37.35 km² in 2015, and the lake shoreline is 48.53km. The water is from the surface runoff and ice and snow melting. There are 5 runoffs into the lake, of which wusu dwarf river is the largest surface runoff to the Alag Lake. The ecological environment around the Alag Lake is suitable for many rare species and migratory birds. The Alag Lake was listed as a National Wetland Park pilot by the State Forestry Administration in 2015. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth images and the referenced maps. The dataset was archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, with data size of 267 KB in 15 data files (compressed to 109 KB in two data files).
