Abstract:
The Rakahanga Atoll is part of Cook Islands in Pacific Ocean. Its geolocation is between 161°04′36″W and 161°06′16″W,9°59′43″S and 10°02′15″S. The Rakahanga Atoll is located at the top of a submarine volcano over 4,000 meters below sea level on the Pacific Ridge. The area of the Rakahanga Atoll is 3.92 km², the coastline is 28.46 km. There is a lagoon 3.8 km long from north to south and 1.8 km wide from west to east, surrounding by 4 islands and 7 islets or motus. The atoll include Tetukono Island in north and northeast, Tetaha Kiraro Island in west, Paerangi Island in southwest and Rakahanga Island in south. The motus includes Umurua, Akaro, Ngangie, Huananui, Mahuta, Okakara and Te Kainga. In the atoll, Rakahanga Island is the biggest one with an area of 1.54 km² and coastline of 7.33 km long. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files and archived in the .kmz and shp data format with the data size of 442 KB (Compressed to 179 KB in two files).
