Abstract:
Severnaya Zemlya of Russia is located in Arctic region between 90°9′26″E-107°46′51″E, 81°16′28″N-77°55′12″N. Severnaya Zemlya is consisted of 128 islands, including the October Revolution Island, Bolshevik Island, Komsomolets Island, Pioneer Island, Schmidt Island, Maly Taymyr Island, Starokadomskogo Island and a series of small islands (the smallest one is 7160 m²). Among them, the biggest one is the October Revolution Island with the area of 14101.54km², and coastline of 1258.49km long. The total area of the Severnaya Zemlya is 36995.18km², and the coastline is 4449.49km long. Only 55- 75 km wide of the Vilkitsky Strait separats the Severnaya Zemlya and the Taymyr Peninsula of the mainland of Russia. The dataset is developed based on the Google Earth images and the referenced maps. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data format with the compressed data size of 8.75MB.
