Abstract:
Ogasawara Archipelago, located in the western Pacific Ocean, is an archipelago of subtropical and tropical region. It is governed by the Tokyo administrative jurisdiction (Tokyo Metropolitan Department), Japan. The geolocation of Ogasawara Archipelago is from 136°3'55"E to 153°59'11"E and 20°25'22"N to 27°43'31"N. Ogasawara Archipelago consists of Ogasawara Islands (known as the Bonin Islands, including Mukojima Group, Chichijima Group and Hahajima Group), Volcano Islands, and a series of small islands, including Nishinoshima, Okinotorishima, and Minamitorishima. The Nishinoshima Island experienced the eruption of volcano from 2013 until 2014. The total area of the islands in the Ogasawara Archipelago is 106.60 km², and coastline is 376.27 km long. The dataset is developed based on Google Earth imagery integrated with thematic maps. The dataset is archived in both .kmz and .shp formats with compressed data size of 1.21MB.
