Abstract:

Hara Lake, also called Black Sea (Heihai Lake), is the second largest inland salt water lake in China. It is located in the Delingha and Tianjun County, Qinghai Province, on the Qilian Mountain, northeast of the Qaidam Basin. "Hara" means "black" in Mongolian, so the Hara Lake is also known as the Black Sea. The geo-location of the Hara Lake is from 38°11′39″N to 38°24′54″N, 97°24′5″E to 97°47′27″E and 4081 m above sea level. The water covers an area of 597.50 km² and the lake shoreline is 109.42 km. The Hara Lake is adjacent to Shulenan Mountain in the north, Halahunan Mountain in the south, low hills in the east and west. The Hara Lake is in alpine mountain climate, with annual average temperature of about -4 ℃, annual average precipitation of 200-300 mm and annual evaporation of 2300 mm. The water of the Hara Lake mainly depends on the ice and snow melting water from the surrounding mountains – Haerke Mountain, Yeniuji Mountain and Shulenan Mountain, precipitation and river runoff. The main vegetation types around Hara Lake are the plateau meadow vegetation consisted of Achnatherum splendens, Artemisia pigeonii, Artemisia artemisia, Icegrass, woody porcine, Lihai salt claw and Sagitaria chinensis. The soil types around the Hara Lake are salinized meadow soil, alpine steppe soil, meadow steppe soil and alpine cold desert soil. The dataset is based on Google Earth images (2015) and related reference maps. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, it is consisted of 15 data files with data size of 544 KB (Compressed to two data files with data size of 216 KB).
