Abstract:
The distribution and diffusion of Suspended Particulate Matter (SPM) have important impacts on the estuary ecological environment, landform evolution, aquaculture, and coastal engineering. The spatiotemporal dataset of suspended particulate matter concentration in the Yellow River Estuary and adjacent waters (1997-2018) was developed based on 532 scenes of Landsat TM/ETM /OLI and Sentinel-2 MSI imagery with cloud cover less than 10%. The SPM retrieval model was established using field-measured spectrum and in situ SPM concentration with consideration of the differences in spectral response characteristics of different satellite sensors. The dataset covers the Yellow River Estuary, Laizhou Bay and southern Bohai Bay, with a spatial resolution of 30 m. The dataset includes monthly and annual SPM concentration from 1997 to 2018 in the Yellow River Estuary and adjacent waters. The dataset is archived in .tif data format, and the projected coordinate system is WGS_1984_UTM_Zone_50N. It contains a total of 68 data files with data size of 3.03 GB (compressed into three files with 968 MB). The analysis paper based on this dataset was published in Marine Pollution Bulletin, Volume 149, ID: 110518, 2019.
