Abstract:

The Fox Islands are a group of islands in the eastern Aleutian Islands of the U.S. state of Alaska. The Fox Islands are the closest to mainland North America in the Aleutian chain, and just east of Samalga Pass and the Islands of Four Mountains group. The location of Fox Islands is 162°21′10″W-169°15′7″W,52°46′0″N-55°3′9″N. The larger Fox Islands are, from west to east, Umnak, Unalaska, Amaknak, Akutan, Akun, Unimak and Sanak. The Unimak Island is the largest inland with 4077.93km2. The Unalaska Island has the longest coastline 1063.46km. There are 23 islands with area great than 1km2 and 7 islands with area great than 100km2. The total area of Fox Islands is 9559.52km2 and the total coastline is 3138.67km. The dataset was developed based on integration among the Google Earth images and related maps and records. The dataset is archived in the .shp and .kmz formats with the compressed data size of 10.30MB.
