Abstract:
Manihiki Atoll is part of Northern Cook Islands in Pacific Ocean. Its geolocation is between 160°57′13″W and 161°02′17″W, 10°22′12″S and 10°27′46″S. The Manihiki Atoll is located at the top of a submarine volcano over 4,000 meters below sea level on the Pacific Ridge. The area of the Manihiki Atoll is 5.42 km², the coastline is 67.09 km. It is a coral atoll, consisting of 63 isles (motu). There is a lagoon surrounding by the islets. The lagoon is 9.4 km long from north to south and 8.5 km wide from west to east. The Tukao and the Tauhunu Islets are bigger than others, in which, the area of Tukao Islet is 2.68 km², and the area of the Tauhunu Islet is 1.26 km². The Tauhunu and Tukao settlements are most populated places in the Atoll. The administrative office of the Manihiki is located at the Tauhunu settlement (10°25′26″S, 161°02′02″W) and the Manihiki Island Airport is located at southeast of the Tukao settlement(10°22′31″S , 161°00′38″W). The Manihiki Atoll dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 23 data files and archived in the .kmz and shp data format with the data size of 878 KB (Compressed to 367 KB in three files).
