Abstract:
Channel Islands is located at the English Channel, northeast of the Atlantic Ocean. It is separated 10 km from Cotentin Peninsula in its east, and 88 km from the Great Britain in its north. Its geo-location is between 48°51′59″N and 49°44′20″N, 2°42′12″W and 1°43′51″W. There are 730 islands and islets with the area bigger than 70 m² in the Channel Islands. The main islands in the Channel Islands include Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Minquiers, and Isles Chausey. Among them, the biggest island is the Jersey, with the area of 121.63 km² and the coastline of 100.25 km. The total area of the Channel Islands is 216.82 km2 (Albers Projection) and the total coastline length is 534.94 km (Lambert Projection). The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, consists of 16 data files with data size of 3.69 MB (Compressed to 1.56 MB in two files).Browse
