Abstract:
Outer Hebrides is located at 30.52 km off the northwestern coast of the Scotland, eastern of the North Atlantic Ocean. It is part of the Western Isles in the United Kingdom, separated from Scotland by the North Minch, and separated from the Inner Hebrides by the Little Minch. Its geo-location is between 56°46′38″N and 59°8′4″N, 8°39′1″W and 5°48′37″W. The Outer Hebrides is crescent shape. There are 2413 islands and islets with an area bigger than 25 m² in the Outer Hebrides. The main islands include Lewis and Harris, North Uist, South Uist, Benbecula and Barra-Vatersay, etc. The largest island is the Lewis and Harris, its area is 2,169.36 km² and its coastline is 934.16 km. The total area of the Outer Hebrides is 3,184.85 km² and the total coastline is 3,401.72 km. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth images and related maps and references on the United Kingdom. The dataset is consisted of 15 data files and archived in the .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 27.7 MB (Compressed to 11.7 MB in two files).Browse
