Abstract:
The Earth's rotation speed changes can characterize by length of day (LOD). Frictional torque is axial moment of earth which is produced by atmospheric friction. The Global Frictional Torque and Length of Day Dataset in Daily-Monthly-Yearly Timescale(1948-2015)is developed based on the data of the length of day (LOD) from IERS (https://www.iers.org/), the data of momentum flux from NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis 1 (https://www.esrl.noaa.gov/psd/data/) and by the method of the formula (Weickmann and Sardeshmukh, 1994). The spatial resolution is T62 Gaussian grid with 192 x 94 pixels, the timescale is average of daily-monthly-yearly from 1948-2015. The dataset is archived in .xlsx data format with data size of 860 KB. The analysis paper based on the dataset was published at the Progress in Geophysics, Vol.31, No.4, 2016.
