Abstract:
Iceland is located in the northwest of Europe, south of the Arctic Circle, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Greenland Sea. The Iceland is the second largest island in Europe. The Iceland is separated 289.37 km from Greenland by Danish Strait at its northwest, separated 971.60 km from Norway by Norwegian Sea at its east, 428.96 km from Faroe Islands at its southeast. The Iceland belongs to the Republic of Iceland, whose capital, Reykjavik, is located in the southwest of the island. The geo-location of the Iceland is 63°23′38″N-66°32′23″N, 24°31′56″W-13°29′39″W. It extends from west to east, with the length of about 500 km and the width of about 300 km. The area of the Iceland is 102,474.84 km² (Albers projection) and the coastline is 7,465.90 km (Lambert projection). The International Reykjavik Airport and Keflavik Airport are located adjacent to the capital and are operated by the government of Iceland. The dataset was developed based on the Google Earth and related maps and references. The dataset is consisted of 26 data files and archived in the .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 23.9 MB (Compressed to 16.7 MB in three files).
