Abstract:
Halmahera Island, also known as Djailolo Island, Jilolo or Gilolo Island, is located at the west side of the Pacific Ocean and near the equator. It is 232 km separated from New Guinea Island by Halmahera Sea in the southeast, and 242 km separated from Sulawesi Island by the Molucca Strait. The Halmahera Island belongs to Maluku Province, Indonesia. The geolocation of the Halmahera Island is between 0°54′51″Sand 2°13′19″N, 127°23′48″E and 128°54′12″E. The Island has a peculiar shape and four peninsulas. The area of the Halmahera Island is 17,989.82 km² on the Albers projection, and the length of coastline is 2,341.64 km on the Lambert projection. This dataset is developed based on the Global Multiple Scale Shorelines Dataset Based on Google Earth Images (2015), and maps and references related to Indonesia. The dataset is consisted of 17 data files and archived in .kmz and .shp data formats with the data size of 5.36 MB (Compressed to 3.84 MB in two data files).
