Abstract:
The Bastian Islands is located in the southern part of the Hinlopen Strait between Spitsbergen Island and Nordaustlandet (North East Land) in the Svalbard Archipelago of the Arctic Ocean. It is adjacent to the Ronnbeck Islands in the south. It is in Norway, and the geo-location is between 78°57′43″N and 79°02′42″N, 20°52′15″E and 21°48′30″E. The Bastian Islands consists of 25 islands (area of the smallest is 365 m²), they are Kiepert Island, Lange Island, Peschel Island, Deegen Island, Geographer Island and Kloden Island, etc. In the Bastian Islands, the two largest islands are the Kiepert Island with an area of 3.57 km², and the Lange Island with an area of 3.41 km². The total area of the Bastian Islands is 9.12 km², and the length of the coastline is 71.41 km. The dataset was developed based on Google Earth images around 2015. The dataset is archived in .kmz and .shp data formats, and consists of 17 data files with data size of 548 KB (compressed into 2 files with 374 KB).
