The area of Lake Victoria is varying in different year and seasons. Based on the Landsate Images of TM/ETM , as well as Google Earth, the boundaries of the Lake Victoria in 2000, 2010 and 2015 were developed. By Albers projection, the areas of the lake were 6.698X104、6.674X104、6.685X104km2 in 2000, 2010 and 2015 separately. It is obviously that it is the Africa's largest lake and is also the world's second largest freshwater body. The Lake Victoria is the source of the Nile River. The Lake Victoria has a winding shoreline, several small islands with an average elevation of the lake is 1134 meters above sea level. The average depth of the lake is 40 meters.
