Abstract:
In order to find an alternative way to have a solution of low resolution of land use pixels, a new methodology, named the Victorial Boundary-based Subpixel Mapping (VBSPM) method was put forward to develop the land use data with the special resolution of 500m, 330m, 250m, 200m, 167m, 143m, 125m, 111m and 100m separately by adopting downscaling factors from 2 to 10. A finer Land use map (30m) of each province in 2005, provided by the Resources and Environmental Scientific Data Center, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was adopted as reference, the overall accuracy, producer’s and user’s accuracy of each class were obtained for each provincial dataset. For the overall accuracy, Xinjiang and Xizang achieved the best performance with the highest value of 90%; Shanxi, Shaanxi, Chongqing and Guizhou had the lowest accuracy with almost 70%. For the accuracy of classes, Farmland, Woodland and Grassland showed better than other classes; accuracy of populated places was relative low; Water and Barren land had an obvious difference among provinces. The dataset was archived in .tif, .xlsx data formats in 310 data files with data size of 449 MB (Compressed to one file, 336 MB).
