Abstract:
With more and more earth observation satellites in orbit, there is an urgent need for data users to develop a methodology, in which the data from multi-source satellites can be coordinated with each other as well as with the data from ground-based synchronous experiments. In June 2013, we conducted a multi-satellite synchronous coordinating observation with a ground-based synchronous experiment in Zhangye, a ground station of China. The terrain ecosystems around this station are very suitable for matching the needs and requirements of synchronous tests of parameters such as urban land cover, mountain, desert, forest, grassland, and crops. Satellites observations and ground instruments were used to perform the synchronous observations. Data from 22 sensors of 10 satellites and from 3 specific in-situ instruments were integrated and archived. The metadata and the methodology of the synchronous observational datasets in the Zhangye ground station are illustrated in the data paper.Browse
