Koshi River Basin refers to the catchment area of Koshi River and its tributaries. Koshi River originates from the Dasuopu Glacier on the north slope of Xixabangma in the central Himalayas. The Koshi River Basin is located between 25°20′45″N and 29°08′23″N, 85°01′25″E and 88°56′59″E, across three countries: China, Nepal and India. The Koshi River Basin has a total area of 87,723.17 km². The basin has a largest elevation drop in the world from Mt. Qomolangma 8848.86 m to the lowest only 33 m above sea level, where the elevation drop reaches to 8815 m within the basin. The boundary data of the basin is developed based on ASTER-DEM 30 m and Google Earth images. The dataset includes the boundary data both the Koshi River Basin and its subregions. The dataset is archived in both .kmz and .shp formats, and consists of 30 data files with data size of 22.7 MB (Compressed into three files with 9.61 MB).
