Abstract:
In order to explore the downward transport trend of root biomass in alpine meadow under global warming, a study area was chosen on the Beiluhe Observation Station of Frozen Soil Environment and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (34°49′34″–34°49′37″N, 92°55′57″–92°56′06″E; 4630 m above sea level). Single-tube infrared radiators were used as warming devices and artificial warming experiments were established in an alpine meadow of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. Each plot had an area of 2 m X 2 m and had a distance of 4-5 m each other. Root biomass was sampled using a soil corer with an internal diameter of 7 cm. One core with no replication was extracted every 10 cm between 0 and 50 cm depths in the center of each experimental plot during the growing season (form May to September) in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Five cores were respectively obtained under the natural and artificial warming plots in 2012 and 25 soil samples were taken, whereas in 2013, three cores were obtained and 15 soil samples were taken. Then the soil samples were dried to weight and obtained the Root biomass dataset of alpine meadow in Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau under the artificial climate warming experiment. The results indicate that the root biomass slightly increased in the warming treatments, but the increased magnitude was different in 2002 and 2003. The dataset is archived in .xls data format with data size of 48KB. The analysis paper related the dataset was published in the journal of Acta Ecologica Sinica, No.21, Vol.36, 2016.Browse
